Clarification Regarding a Separate Badminton Group at Frankston High School
Dear Mornington Peninsula Badminton Inc.,
Players & Parents
We are aware that a separate, new badminton group, “Mornington Badminton Academy”, has recently started running sessions at Frankston High School (FHS) gymnasium where Mornington Peninsula Badminton Inc. (MPB) also operates.
Some MPB members have attended their sessions.
Please be advised that “Mornington Badminton Academy” is an entirely separate and independent entity and their sessions are not organised, run, or endorsed by (MPB). While you may see individuals leading those sessions who are former MPB members, this does not indicate any affiliation between the two groups.
MPB welcomes members who participate in other badminton sessions to continue enjoying and participating in MPB programs.
We encourage all members to continue to enjoy the benefits and culture of MPB, including:
Warm, inclusive club culture — nearly 500 active members and a dedicated eight-person volunteer committee working on your behalf.
Regular training and skill development led by fully accredited coaches that hold valid Working With Children Checks.
Our Coaches are registered under Badminton Australia’s national coaching framework, with child Integrity training education from Sport Integrity Australia (SIA).Club-run weekly competitions and annual tournaments.
Low-cost, not-for-profit programs using quality shuttlecocks; six weekly social sessions across 48 weeks per year.
Regular member communications and community events.
Strong governance and member representation — affiliated with Badminton Victoria and Badminton Australia, with player-member injury insurance and active advocacy to Frankston and Mornington Councils and Frankston and Peninsula Grammar schools for fair court access.
Long standing presence across the Peninsula and Frankston since 1983.
Why have we issued this statement?
We want to clarify that our club is not linked to or associated with the new group in any way. Our goal is to protect the integrity of our brand and to ensure transparency for our members and the wider community, as well as the wellbeing of our members and the integrity of our Club.
We’re here to support you and the local badminton community. For any questions or concerns, please contact the MPB Committee.
Kind regards,
MPB Committee
