Wednesday morning badminton is fantasic. I initially came with a friend who encouraged me to come. I have never played badminton before and really enjoy it within an all female environment. Everyone is friendly and encouraging and it is great exercise. We had a coach help us which was fantastic for skill development. It is not competitive and very social.

I love coming to Wednesday morning badminton, “Feathered Friends” as it’s called, becuase it’s friendly and safe place to have fun and be active. It has been years since I played sport and This Girl Can Victoria has provided a great platform for women to play sport again at any level they are at physically and skill-wise. I love that the women who play are from different backgrounds, ages and skill levels. I have felt very welcome by the group which is very important.

I enjoy playing badminton with Feathered Friends as it keeps me fit. I get to meet new friends and the ladies who run it are very welcoming and encouraging. The fees are very reasonable and you can pay weekly. We all help one another to improve our skills, there is lots of laughs and I feel very relaxed. The equipment is free and in excellent condition. I enjoy badminton as it’s a very sociable sport.

Casual attire: Wear comfy clothes and runners.

Equipment provided: Loan racquet & shuttlecocks.

Free and optional coaching/mentoring by a registered Club Coach. Offered to ladies throughout the year.

Somerville Recreation Centre has occasional care available for children.
