Mornington Peninsula Badminton Inc.
Professional Boundaries Policy

SUMMARY

Mornington Peninsula Badminton Inc. (MPB) is dedicated to fostering a safe, respectful, and effective learning environment. This policy establishes clear standards for interactions between staff, coaches, and students to ensure that professional integrity is maintained and that all participants are protected from inappropriate conduct.

Key Requirements of this Policy:

  • Professional Relationships: Coaches and volunteers must maintain boundaries based on mutual respect and trust. Personal or social relationships with students outside of the coaching environment are strictly discouraged.

  • Communication Standards: All digital communication must occur via official club-approved channels (e.g., club email or supervised groups). Private messaging, "friending," or following students on personal social media accounts is prohibited.

  • Physical Contact Boundaries: Physical contact is strictly limited to necessary technical instruction (e.g., adjusting a racket grip or posture). It must only occur with the student’s consent and in an open, transparent environment.

  • Transport and Off-site Safety: Written parental consent is mandatory for transporting students or engaging in any activity outside of regularly scheduled training and matches.

  • Transparent Conduct: We uphold the "Rule of Three," ensuring that one-on-one private interactions with minors are avoided. All interactions should be visible and observable by others.

  • Zero Tolerance: Any violation of these boundaries—including favoritism, grooming behaviors, or inappropriate digital contact—is treated as a serious breach and may result in immediate termination of coaching privileges.

This policy ensures that our coaches can lead with confidence and our students can learn in a space defined by safety and professional excellence.
